Immortality has been one of the most cherished dreams of mankind. Nothing is more permanent than death and throughout history, powerful have done crazy things to escape the clutches of the grim reaper. With the advances in science and technology, is it now possible to live forever?
In this article, we will try to explain our findings.
There are two forms of immortality. ‘You’ as a being and ‘you’ as the body. As a body, death is written into our DNA and there is no escape. Using the most advanced mathematics and technology, scientists have ruled that ageing and death are a mathematical certainty. Our DNA has coding to ‘instruct’ our body to age and when we try to stop it, it makes things worse in other areas.
In conclusion, it is impossible to live forever in your own body.
But what about transferring your knowledge and consciousness into a computer or a robot?
There is a chance that it could happen. In the future, you may be able to transfer your consciousness to the cloud and use any android-like robot body to do physical things. Just like how a dead phone can be brought back to life by plugging it in, your consciousness could give an android the ‘intelligence’ to make it useful.
If you think this is impossible, think again. The famous Japanese sex dolls are 90% close to humans in their look and feel. In another 30 years, they could become completely like humans. By integrating such dolls with advanced robotics, humans could control the android robots using their brain.
Although it feels like Sci-fi, most of the components we talked about exist already in a lower form. Integrating them would need at least a few more decades. So ideally by 2050, we may be able to live forever.
